CBCI: Cross Border Creative Initiative
The Cross Border Creative Initiative (CBCI) is a Virtual Museum of Art (VMA) project bringing young people from Kilmallock and Derry together through creativity, collaboration and immersive technology.
The project is supported through the Limerick Creative Communities Small Grants Scheme 2026, with support from Creative Ireland and Limerick Arts Office.
Four students, two from Kilmallock and two from Derry, will take part in a collaborative programme exploring VR/XR, digital creativity and new ways of creating and sharing artwork.
Working with Friar’s Gate Theatre, Kilmallock and the Nerve Centre, Derry, participants will develop work together across the border, using immersive technology to meet, experiment and exchange ideas.
The project will culminate in a shared digital artwork, presented in both Kilmallock and Derry.
Workshop date: 28 September 2026
CBCI is about using new technology to create meaningful connections between young people in different communities and making something together across the border.
